2008  CAMBRIAN COAST FUN BIKE RIDE - Sunday 15 June 2008

This year Aberystwyth Lions will be supporting the recently opened fund at Bronglais Hospital to provide equipment and training for the early detection of bowel cancer in patients using Bronglais as their local hospital.  Early detection plays a great part in the succesful treatment of this disease.

As in previous years the ride is open to all people who are physically fit, have a roadworthy bike and wish to raise sponsorship for this very worthwhile cause.

Application forms are now available through this website in our "Contact Us" section or can be picked up from J R Davies, Jewellers Aberystwyth.

A fee of £5 for riders (£2 for those up to 14 years) is requested to cover transportation and refreshment costs to riders.

Anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult rider for the whole trip.

There are four rides.  Two rides of 63 and 48 start from Barmouth, one of 30miles from Aberdyfi and one of 18 miles from Machynlleth.

Transport is provided for cycles to meet their riders at the three start points and transport to get riders to their starts has been arranged.

The route is almost all coastal roads and the views en-route are second to none.  Refreshment stops are positioned throughout.

Remember - this is not a race nor time trial, but a well organised ride at your own pace, in your own time and for a very good cause.

So if you feel energetic and want to do something that will support those people who are unfortunate enough to suffer from this illness, then pick up an application pack, get your sponsors to donate then join in with other riders in making this special fundraising day a total success.

10 Mile Annual Sponsored Walk

The recently postponed Lions Annual Sponsored Walk took place on Sunday 3 February 2008 in fair weather.  The walk covered the 10 mile route from Aberystwyth to Capel Bangor and back.

This year's event  supported Marie Curie Cancer Care.

	Due to other committments on 3 February - the ammended date of this year's walk - an "advance party" of 4 walkers completed the route on Sunday 24 January.  l-r Lion John Davies, Lindsay Penney, Lion Brian Wiley and Matthew Ruel.  All four completed the walk in good time.
	The main walk went ahead on 3 February, and in fair weather.  The photo shows the "early birds" who started off before 10am and all walkers completed the course.   *Watch this space to see how much we raised for Marie Curie*

March Fundraising Event

On Saturday 29 March, Aberystwyth Lions collected £255 at Morrison's Supermarket.  This money will go directly to supporting worth events and individuals through the remainder of this year.
